Baker McKenzie has hired McDermott energy and infrastructure partner Elisabeth Moseley, extending a City hiring streak in 2025.

The move marks at least the firm’s 12th London lateral hire this year, as Bakers continues to bulk up its transactional practices.

Baker McKenzie has added to its London transactional bench again, hiring energy and infrastructure partner Elisabeth Moseley from McDermott.

Moseley joined McDermott in 2017 from Clyde & Co, becoming a partner in 2024. Her practice spans cross-border M&A in the energy and natural resources sector, advising corporates, oil companies, startups and financial institutions, with particular experience across Africa.

She joins the firm on 5 January.

Lateral hiring streak

Her arrival extends a sustained lateral hiring run for Bakers in the City this year, with the US firm particularly focused on deepening its transactional benches. Just last week, it brought in senior ECM partners Simon Bullock and Stuart Rubin from Ashurst.

The firm has now hired at least 12 partners in London this year, including M&A partner Helen Johnson from CMS, private equity real estate partner Mark Thompson from Mishcon, funds partner Nick Benson from Latham, tax partner Sam Trowbridge from Kirkland, and M&A partner Michal Berkner - also from McDermott.

What they said

Richard Blunt, global head of energy and infrastructure, said the practice "continues to go from strength to strength," adding that Moseley’s experience across the sector makes her "a great addition to our team."

London managing partner Ed Poulton said her arrival "supports our ongoing focus on strategically growing our transactional practices," pointing to her track record on complex energy M&A.

Moseley said Baker McKenzie’s global platform and industry depth offer "an exceptional environment to support clients."
