Harvey has launched a new interview series hosted by brand partner Gabriel Macht, featuring conversations with customers about their experiences the legal AI platform.

The legal AI company is deepening its association with the fictional lawyer as competition in the sector intensifies.

Harvey has expanded its marketing campaign with a branded interview series hosted by Suits actor and brand partner Gabriel Macht.

The legal tech company announced its brand partnership with the actor earlier this year and has since expanded its brand campaign through a number of high-profile partnerships as competition for brand recognition in the sector heats up.

The series, Leading Questions, features conversations between Macht and Harvey customers about their use of the platform. The first episode features A&O Shearman partner and head of AI David Wakeling reflecting on the firm's early adoption of Harvey as its first law firm customer.

First episode

Wakeling recalls seeing an early demo of Harvey before the release of ChatGPT and immediately recognising its potential.

He pitched it to the firm’s senior partner at the time, who, after testing it out, told Wakeling: “We need to buy them.” Wakeling replied: “We can’t buy them, but we can work with them.”

Wakeling says that technology has made being a lawyer “much more fun” and said he wishes he could rewind his career 20 years.

“I remember piles of boxes and paper, hammering through them, hours ticking away. The systems can cut through that and you get on to the important stuff,” he said.

When fiction meets reality

The interview follows a separate conversation between Macht and Harvey chief executive Winston Weinberg, published last week, in which the pair discussed Weinberg's journey into law and how AI will transform the practice of law.

Macht noted that, in the TV show, Harvey Specter would receive a file and seemingly have all the answers within seconds, describing that portrayal as a "fallacy".

Weinberg said the work of a practising attorney will look closer to how it appears in Suits.
