Italian legal AI startup Lexroom raises $19m to fuel European expansion

Milan-based Lexroom has secured $19 million in a Series A funding round just six months after its $2 million seed round.
The platform will use the funding to expand internationally, with particular focus on Germany and Spain.
Italian startup Lexroom is the latest player in the legal AI market to step up its expansion, announcing a $19 million Series A round just six months after closing a $2 million seed round.
Founded in 2023 by Paolo Fois, Martina Domenicali and Andrea Lonza, the Milan-based company is pitching its generative AI platform for legal research and drafting to both law firms and in-house teams.
The company says it has tripled its client base and doubled its headcount over the past six months, with expansion already underway in Germany and a launch planned in Spain. Its website lists clients including Hogan Lovells and Withers, while it recently partnered with Osborne Clarke on a European consumer law tool.
The funding round was led by Silicon Valley early stage investor Base10 Partners, with backing from ex-Amazon executive Diego Piacentini’s View Different as well as Candy Crush creator Riccardo Zacconi. Base10 general partner Rexhi Dollaku will also join Lexroom’s board.
Europe's legal tech boom
The raise makes Lexroom the latest European legal tech startup to land significant funding this year. Among them are UK players Wordsmith and Definely which both secured $20 million-plus rounds earlier in the year, and legal AI platform frontrunner Legora which raised $80 million in May. And just last week, litigation-focused Wexler raised a $5 million seed round to take on Big Law disputes.
What they said
CEO and co-founder Fois said: "The legal industry is undergoing a revolution. With this round we will accelerate international growth and build the future of the legal profession with AI at its core."
