There's another UK legal tech startup to add to your list: London-based Wexler specialises in tools for litigation and has just raised a $5.3 million seed round.

The round was led by US investor Pear VC with backing from European VC Seedcamp, The LegalTech Fund and existing investor Myriad Venture Partners. It follows a $1.4 million pre-seed raise last December.

Purpose-built for disputes

Founded in 2023 by Gregory Mostyn and Kush Madlani, Wexler is designed specifically for litigation teams. The platform uses AI to build chronologies, extract facts, map key people and test case hypotheses. The company says its latest feature, Wexler Real-Time, can flag inconsistent evidence during hearings - effectively acting as a live fact-checker for disputes lawyers.

Customers include Clifford Chance, Goodwin, HSF Kramer, Addleshaw Goddard and Burges Salmon.

"It’s a product for litigators, made by litigators, rather than something that’s just being retrofitted," said Goodwin partner Sarah McAtominey. "The associates were really thrilled to use it… it has improved the way that we tackle cases from the very outset through to trial."

HSF Kramer partner Charlie Morgan said: "In big, complex disputes, just getting to the facts is really complex and very time consuming. We are using Wexler to help our teams get an understanding of the facts more quickly, more effectively."

He added: "We do see a difference between those generalist platform tools and tools that are really built with a narrower use case in mind."

Growth plans

Since its pre-seed round, Wexler says it has grown ARR 20x while cutting manual review by up to 75%. The fresh funding will be used to expand in the US and continue product development.

CEO and co-founder Mostyn said: "We’re replacing slow, manual, and error-prone litigation review with a system that thinks like a litigator but operates at machine scale and speed.

"With our newest release, litigators can not only build a winning case strategy by mastering the evidence, but challenge inaccuracies as they happen in proceedings."
