Latham adds Travers partner in latest London tech transactions hire

Latham has hired technology and IP partner Richard Offord from Travers Smith in London.
The move follows a series of recent hires as Latham expands its London tech transactions bench.
Latham & Watkins has hired technology and IP partner Richard Offord from Travers Smith.
Offord joins Latham's data and tech transactions practice after spending his entire career at Travers Smith, where he made partner in 2025.
He advises companies and investors on the commercial, IP and technology aspects of M&A and private equity deals. His practice also covers commercial arrangements, including outsourcing, licensing and supply agreements.
Technology focus
The move is the latest sign of Latham's efforts to strengthen its tech transactions capabilities in London as AI, data and intellectual property issues become increasingly important components of corporate deals.
In May, the US firm hired a trio of technology-focused M&A partners from Morrison Foerster: former London managing partner Andrew Boyd, alongside Gary Brown and Luke Rowland. Brown previously served as co-head of MoFo's European M&A practice.
What they said
Ghaith Mahmood, global chair of Latham’s data & technology transactions practice, said the firm’s "global data and technology transactions platform is second to none,” adding that Offord’s track record “syncs up with our capabilities and how we partner with clients on their highest-stakes transactions.”
“Technology, AI, IP, and regulatory issues are increasingly shaping the most sophisticated transactions,” said Tom Evans, global vice chair of Latham’s corporate department. “Richard will be a major asset to the team,” he added.
