DWF is integrating legal AI platform Legora into its legal operations arm to streamline work and automate tasks.

The deal adds to Legora’s growing customer list as it penetrates deeper into the UK Big Law market.

DWF has become the latest large firm to agree a partnership with Legora, the Stockholm-based legal AI platform rapidly gaining ground among top firms.

The platform will be integrated into DWF’s legal operations arm, targeting the automation of high-volume, process-driven work including contract risk analysis, redlining, cyber response and due diligence.

The legal operations unit was launched as a standalone ALSP in 2001 and was acquired by DWF in 2020. It now sits fully within the firm and spans more than 500 specialists across the UK, US and India.

Bigger picture

Legora has signed up a number of major law firms as customers this year. In May, Cleary signed a strategic deal to embed the platform firmwide and, in June, Taylor Wessing confirmed it was rolling out Legora with a 30-deep squad of “AI Champions” to tailor the tech to each practice area.

The Stockholm-based startup, founded in 2023 as Leya, now claims over 250 law firm customers in 20 countries, including Goodwin, Bird & Bird, Addleshaw Goddard and Mishcon de Reya. Last month, it raised $80 million in Series B funding, pushing its valuation to nearly $700 million.

Legora is seen as a direct competitor to US-based startup Harvey which was valued at $3 billion earlier this year after its own $300 million Series D raise.

Legora’s rise comes as European legal tech is red hot. In Q2 of this year, five legal AI startups secured funding rounds worth over $230 million as investors bet big on the next wave of legal tech solutions.

What they said

Perez added: "We’re already seeing up to 60% faster turnaround times. This means our clients get quicker, more accurate responses and real-time insights, all without compromising on quality".

DWF’s chief technology officer, Jon Grainger, said: "At DWF, we invest in technology that empowers our people and helps us to deliver positive outcomes with our clients. Embedding Legora into our legal operations is a prime example of this - leveraging cutting-edge AI to streamline complex workflows, enhance accuracy and scale our capabilities."
