White & Case hires Bakers infrastructure M&A partner in London

White & Case has recruited Nick Rainsford from Baker McKenzie to its London M&A practice.
The move strengthens the firm’s infrastructure and private capital offering across EMEA and adds to a tally of 25 global M&A lateral partners hires in the past year.
White & Case has expanded its global M&A practice with the hire of infrastructure and energy specialist Nick Rainsford as a partner in London from Baker McKenzie.
He advises infrastructure funds, pension funds and corporates on infrastructure and energy M&A deals across EMEA. His practice also includes advising family offices, founders and sovereign wealth funds on investment solutions and private capital matters.
Rainsford was previously a partner at Ashurst before moving laterally to Baker McKenzie around five years ago.
Infrastructure focus
The firm said Rainsford has a strong track record advising on the types of complex, cross-border transactions that it is increasingly seeing.
Sandra Rafferty, co-head of the firm’s global infrastructure group, said: “Our clients are navigating an increasingly complex M&A landscape, particularly in high-growth areas such as infrastructure and private capital,” adding that the hire would enhance the firm’s ability to support clients.
White & Case vice chair Oliver Brettle said infrastructure and private capital remained “key strategic areas of focus”.
The hire forms part of a broader expansion drive within White & Case’s global M&A practice, which has added more than 25 lateral partners over the past year globally. Last year, the firm added Richard Browne, Helen Croke and Henry Birch in London.
