Cleary has added funds partner Nathan McKinnon from Fried Frank in London, the fifth lateral addition to its funds practice since autumn 2025.

His arrival swiftly follows the hire of fellow Fried Frank funds colleague David Christmas in April.

US firm Cleary Gottlieb has hired funds partner Nathan McKinnon from Fried Frank in London two months after it added fellow funds partner David Christmas from the same firm.

Cleary has now added five lateral partners to its global funds practice since autumn 2025.

“Strengthening our global funds and private capital platform has been a key strategic priority for the firm,” said executive committee member and London partner Tihir Sarkar.

“Nathan’s extensive experience advising sponsors on primary fund formation and secondary transactions across private credit, private equity, and other asset classes significantly strengthens our funds offering.”

McKinnon was promoted to partner at Fried Frank in 2024 and spent over six years at the firm. He previously worked at Norton Rose Fulbright in London and Sydney.

His practice focuses on fund formation across a range of alternative strategies, including private credit, private equity and infrastructure. He also advises on secondaries, co-investments, and GP stakes transactions.

Cleary has doubled its London partner ranks since 2021 and continues to expand its presence in the City.
