Fieldfisher has launched offices in Warsaw and Krakow with a 32-person team, making its move into Poland’s fast-growing legal market.
The launch follows a wave of UK firms expanding into Poland to capitalise on its growing economy and gateway position in central and eastern Europe.
Fieldfisher has opened two offices in Poland as part of its ongoing European expansion, launching in Warsaw and Krakow with a 32-strong team, including five partners.
The move marks the latest UK firm to enter the fast-growing Polish market, which continues to attract international law firms seeking access to central and eastern Europe.
The team, which joins from local firms B2R Law and LSW, is led by Rafal Stroinski and Piotr Szelenbaum, who will serve as joint country managing partners.
The new operation will cover a broad range of practices, including corporate and M&A, capital markets, disputes, finance, tax, IP, real estate and technology. Fieldfisher says its local focus will centre on technology and renewable energy - two of the fastest-growing sectors in the Polish economy.
The expansion brings Fieldfisher’s global footprint to 25 offices across 12 countries.
Big Law looks East
The launch comes amid a wave of international law firms increasing investment in Poland, seen as both a regional legal hub and a gateway to Central and Eastern Europe (CEE).
Addleshaw Goddard recently absorbed an 80-lawyer team from Linklaters to open in Warsaw, while CMS, DWF and Clyde & Co have all expanded their presence in the country over the past 18 months.
Osborne Clarke also opened in Warsaw in 2022 with a team of 30 lawyers.
Poland ranks among the top five destinations globally for foreign investment in new projects. For Fieldfisher, the new offices strengthen its CEE offering and add to its existing network in Germany and Austria.
What they said
"Poland is a thriving business environment", said Fieldfisher managing partner Robert Shooter.
"Fieldfisher Poland will enable us to significantly consolidate our presence in Central and Eastern Europe, making our platform a compelling option for clients and investors operating in this region."
Rafal Stroinski added:
"Working alongside our colleagues across the network, we can combine our local experience and knowledge with Fieldfisher's global reach, offering a truly comprehensive service to our clients."
