Aloi has raised €6.1 million, with the Stockholm startup already planning a larger Series A later this year.

The company joins a growing Stockholm legal AI cluster that already includes Legora, Qura, Stilta and Vesence, which have collectively attracted major VC backing.

Another legal AI startup founded in Stockholm has announced a fundraise. This time, it’s Aloi, which has raised €6.1 million as it looks to expand internationally and prepare for a larger Series A later this year.

The company was co-founded by CEO Johan Häger who was previously a partner and head of finance and restructuring at top Nordic firm Roschier.

The latest funding comes from an undisclosed European VC fund alongside existing investors and follows an earlier €3 million round last year.

Aloi is building technology designed to help law firms make better use of the knowledge buried across their existing work, including how lawyers have previously approached negotiations and made decisions.

The idea is to help lawyers understand how their firm has dealt with similar issues in the past and bring that knowledge into new matters. Aloi says its technology can plug into the AI tools and workflows firms already use.

The company said the market was moving away from the models themselves being a competitive advantage “towards how effectively organisations activate their own proprietary data, institutional knowledge and accumulated judgement.”

Stockholm’s legal AI boom

Aloi already works with Nordic firms including Roschier, Avance and Wiersholm and operates across markets including the UK, Germany, the Netherlands and the Nordics. The US is its next priority market, with the fresh capital earmarked for product development and new talent.

The company is the latest legal AI startup to emerge from Stockholm, which can now confidently lay claim to being among the busiest legal tech hubs anywhere in the world.

Legal AI heavyweight Legora was founded in the Swedish capital in 2024 and was most recently valued at nearly $6 billion. In April, it acquired fellow Stockholm startup Qura to boost its legal research capabilities.

Patent litigation-focused Stilta raised $10.5 million in May in a round led by legendary VC Andreessen Horowitz, while Stockholm-based Vesence raised a $9 million seed round last year to develop technology for checking the quality of AI-generated legal work.
