Legora strikes AI partnership with Deloitte Legal in the UK

Deloitte Legal has announced a UK partnership with legal AI platform Legora, in a move that will see the Big Four firm use the tool internally while also helping legal clients roll-out their own AI strategies.

The deal builds on a collaboration in Sweden earlier this year, where Deloitte deployed Legora across its tax and legal teams.

Bigger picture

The partnership echoes an earlier move by Legora’s US-based rival Harvey in 2023, when it signed with PwC in a deal to give the Big Four firm access to its AI platform and open up Harvey to its vast global client base.

Legora has been pushing hard for growth on both sides of the Atlantic. Last week, it named former Morgan Lewis partner Kyle Poe as VP of legal innovation to spearhead its US expansion, and this year has secured deals with a string of big UK and European law firms.

It comes amid a surge in AI usage across the profession. A recent LexisNexis report revealed that 61% of lawyers now use AI - although a survey by Axiom earlier this year suggested that most in-house teams are still relying on generic providers like ChatGPT, with only a small proportion using dedicated platforms like Legora or Harvey.
