Linklaters lands M&A dealmaker to lead corporate in Italy

Linklaters has hired M&A dealmaker Massimiliano Nitti from Chiomenti to head its Italian corporate practice in Milan.
The move comes as several international firms focus on Italy, with private equity deal volume doubling last year to make it Europe’s fastest-growing major market.
Linklaters has hired top M&A dealmaker Massimiliano Nitti from Italian heavyweight Chiomenti to lead its corporate practice in Milan.
Nitti spent 27 years at Chiomenti - one of Italy's leading M&A firms - making partner in 2010 and co-heading its private M&A group. He also previously ran the firm’s London office.
Bigger picture
Milan has become a hot spot for international firms chasing private equity mandates. PE deal volume in Italy doubled last year, making it Europe’s fastest-growing major market, according to private markets data provider PitchBook.
Just last week, PE heavyweight Ropes & Gray opened in Milan with a trio of Latham & Watkins partners, including key dealmaker Cataldo Piccarreta.
