Paul Hastings lands another fund finance partner in London

Paul Hastings has hired Stephenson Harwood partner Daniel Margolis, its third senior fund finance addition in London since last November.
The move comes as fund finance has become one of London’s hottest lateral markets, with Paul Hastings also launching an office in finance hub in Charlotte this year.
Paul Hastings has added more talent to its fund finance bench in London, hiring Stephenson Harwood partner Daniel Margolis.
Margolis joins after 10 years at Stephenson Harwood, where he made partner in 2019. He advises banks, other lenders and funds on a range of fund finance transactions.
The move follows Paul Hastings’ hire of Reed Smith fund finance head Leon Stephenson earlier this summer and Jennifer Passagne from Haynes Boone at the end of last year.
Fund finance hiring heats up
Fund finance has become one of London’s hottest lateral markets this year as private capital firms increasingly look for new ways to manage liquidity at the fund level.
Paul Hastings has been particularly active. Its London hires form part of a wider international push that included opening an office in Charlotte, a major US finance hub, earlier this year with a large team recruited from Cadwalader, Haynes Boone and Mayer Brown.
Eric Schwitzer, co-chair of Paul Hastings’ fund finance practice, said the market’s rapid growth was creating significant opportunities for the firm, adding that Margolis would complement Stephenson and Passagne in London and its new team in Charlotte.
Margolis said: “The opportunity to join Leon and Jennifer and to expand the practice in Europe was irresistible. I look forward to helping Paul Hastings grow its share of the fund finance market in London and internationally.”
The hire is the latest in a busy year of recruitment for Paul Hastings in London.
Last month, the firm added two senior restructuring partners: Bevis Metcalfe from Hogan Lovells Cadwalader, and Kieran Sharma from Sidley, where he led the London financial restructuring team.
