Need to know

Paul Weiss has named 28 new partners worldwide in its 2026 class, including eight in London across corporate, tax and litigation.

The large round follows the launch of a London litigation practice and the introduction of a non-equity tier.

Paul Weiss has promoted 28 new partners globally with eight promotions in London as the firm continues its push to broaden its UK platform. The round marks a big step up from its single London partner promotion last year.

The new London partners are:

  • Marco Bagnato - Corporate Finance
  • Jamie Chambers - Tax
  • Lauren E. O’Brien - Antitrust Litigation
  • James Parkinson - Antitrust Litigation
  • Rohit Pisal - Tax
  • Hein Visser - Corporate M&A
  • Hannah Wilson - Corporate Investment Funds
  • Matthew J. Wilson - Corporate Finance

The promotions take effect on 1 January 2026.

Strategic priorities

The spread of this year’s promotions also points to the firm’s strategic priorities.

Paul Weiss launched a London litigation practice earlier this year led by Richard Hornshaw, who joined from Akin, as part of a move to broaden its platform beyond transactional work into disputes, an area it has a strong reputation for in the US.

This was followed by the arrival of Leo Kitchen from Quinn Emanuel in the summer. The latest internal promotions signal continued investment in the group.

A bigger bench

The New York heavyweight introduced a non-equity tier ahead of last year’s partner promotions and that shift certainly shows up in the numbers.

Paul Weiss promoted 34 partners last year compared with 12 in 2023, nearly tripling the size of its partner class. The larger round again this year points to a system that can accommodate significantly more progression at the top.
