Perkins Coie lands Clifford Chance tech specialist in London

Perkins Coie has boosted its London bench with the hire of tech-focused lawyer Arnav Joshi from Clifford Chance.
The Seattle firm is targeting European tech founders, investors and high-growth companies as part of its City strategy.
Perkins Coie has hired Clifford Chance counsel Arnav Joshi as a partner in London, adding firepower to its growing European practice for tech companies and investors.
Joshi, who spent five years at Clifford Chance, advises on digital regulation, AI, privacy, data protection, cyber security and tech policy. He has worked on high-stakes matters involving the EU AI Act, GDPR, Digital Markets Act and the UK’s Online Safety Act, and has appeared before Parliament on AI regulation.
Tech focus
The Seattle-headquartered firm, known for advising global tech giants such as Amazon and Microsoft, opened in London last year under the leadership of Ian Bagshaw, White & Case's former global private equity co-head.
In a conversation for The Non-Billable Podcast in June, Bagshaw revealed that Perkins Coie's European strategy is tightly focused: working with tech founders, their investors and the high-growth companies they’re building.
Joshi’s arrival follows that of regulatory and competition lawyer Miranda Cole from Norton Rose Fulbright in February, another key hire aimed at building out the firm's offering to US and European tech clients.
What they said
Andrew Grant, chair of Perkins Coie’s technology transactions and privacy practice, said: "Arnav’s extensive knowledge of U.K. and EU tech regulation, combined with his experience advising global technology leaders, makes him a tremendous addition to our expanding London presence."
Rebecca Engrav and Sumedha Ahuja, co-chairs of the firm’s AI & machine learning industry group, added: "Now, more than ever, clients seek seamless coordination across jurisdictions for AI legal questions. The addition of Arnav’s skill set and experience in our London office will help us continue to provide the practical, global answers our clients seek."
