Squire Patton Boggs has hired four partners in the UK, adding Miles Robinson (London), Partho Chaudhuri (Birmingham), Deborah Polden (Leeds) and Chris Roberts (Manchester).

The new joiners span disputes, corporate and restructuring, and follow over a dozen other senior additions in the UK already this year.

Squire Patton Boggs has made a round of senior hires in the UK, adding four partners across Birmingham, Leeds, London and Manchester as it accelerates its growth push.

The new recruits span disputes, corporate and restructuring, and mark the latest phase in the expansion of Squires' UK business which has been growing at a "double digit pace" over the last few years, according to the firm.

New joiners

Experienced disputes specialist Miles Robinson joins in London from Mayer Brown, where he co-led the product liability group, while Birmingham sees the arrival of corporate lawyer Partho Chaudhuri from Deloitte.

Deborah Polden joins from Eversheds Sutherland to lead the firm’s litigation practice in Leeds, and Chris Roberts comes aboard in Manchester from DLA Piper, where he headed the North West restructuring and insolvency team.

Bigger picture

Squires has already seen more than a dozen senior UK arrivals this year, including London partners Ranajoy Basu, global head of structure finance and India practice lead, in July and Monica Gogna, global head of financial regulation, in May - who joined from McDermott and EY, respectively.

Gogna, in particular, was a standout hire. She was one of EY's most senior UK legal partners and previously held partner roles at Dechert, Ropes and Pinsent Masons. She brought a four-lawyer team with her to Squires.

Squires has a strong foothold in the UK thanks to its ties to UK legacy firm Hammonds - the international firm that merged with US player Squire Sanders in 2011 (the combined firm then merged with Patton Boggs in 2014). Today, Squires has offices in Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester and London.

What they said

Steve Mahon, Squires’ global managing partner for clients and strategy, said: "A robust practice spanning the UK that is tightly integrated into our global platform is a hallmark of our firm. These are welcome additions that advance multiple segments of our cross border practice."

European managing partner Jonathan Jones added: "Our UK business has been growing at a double digit pace over the last several years and we remain committed to investing in our future, including through a combination of strategic lateral hires and organic growth. Each of these partners brings new relationships and substantial experience in areas that are of acute need to our clients."
