Her move strengthens S&C’s growing acquisition finance bench and extends the firm’s hiring pipeline from Weil in London.
Sullivan & Cromwell has hired finance partner Jenny Choi from Weil in London, continuing the New York firm’s fast-paced City expansion.
Choi was made up to partner at Weil last year and specialises in acquisition finance. Her experience includes mandates from private equity sponsors such as Inflexion, Permira and CVC. She joined Weil in 2022 from Ashurst and previously spent time in-house at CVC.
Her move will see her reunite with former Weil finance colleagues Chris McLaughlin and Alastair McVeigh, who recently joined S&C as part of its fast-building London finance bench.
“Jenny is an incredible addition to our top-tier acquisition finance and sponsor focused practice, building on the recent high profile additions of Chris McLaughlin, Alastair McVeigh and Patrick Bright,” said London co-heads Kon Asimacopoulos and John Horsfield-Bradbury.
“Together with our continued investment in acquisition finance, private equity, specialty lending, and restructuring, her arrival enhances our London team’s ability to advise on the market’s most complex financing transactions.”
Weil pipeline continues
The Weil connection is becoming a feature of S&C’s London push. The firm’s expansion gathered pace after Weil’s former London managing partner Mike Francies joined in September, alongside ex-Kirkland partner Asimacopoulos. Since then, hiring has accelerated sharply.
Choi’s arrival takes the number of laterals poached by S&C in London to at least 10 since the expansion drive began last year, largely focused on private capital and sponsor-side work.
Earlier this month, the firm hired high yield partner Patrick Bright and restructuring specialist William Needham from Paul Hastings.
Sullivan & Cromwell’s London office is its second-largest globally and currently counts 25 partners.
