Travers Smith’s planning head Jamie McKie has left the firm to join Clyde & Co as a partner.

His departure is the latest in a string of practice head exits from Travers over the past 18 months.

Travers Smith’s head of planning has left the firm to join Clyde & Co.

Jamie McKie joins Clydes as a partner, bringing experience advising on various town and country planning matters. A solicitor advocate, he built the planning practice at Travers after starting his career at various London councils and other City firms.

His move follows the exits of several other practice heads at Travers over the past year. Most recently, Taylor Wessing poached competition head Stephen Whitfield ahead of its tie-up with Winston & Strawn.

In January, pensions head Susie Daykin joined Pinsent Masons, and in October last year firm lifer and tax chief Russell Warren moved to King & Spalding after 25 years at the firm.

Leveraged finance head Matthew Ayre also left last year to join Goodwin.

What they said

“Jamie’s arrival is an important step for our team,” said Clydes planning partner Brian Greenwood.

“His experience in development planning complements our existing strengths in infrastructure and environmental work. Together, we will be well placed to support clients across a full range of planning matters.”

“There’s currently a real momentum in the planning and infrastructure sector, so I’m excited to join Clyde & Co and play a part in making the most of the opportunities ahead,” added McKie.

“The firm’s broad offering creates a strong platform for advising on increasingly complex, large-scale projects, and I’m looking forward to working closely with colleagues to continue building and strengthening the practice.”
