Haynes Boone has hired Jeremy Cross from Addleshaw Goddard and Philipp Kurek from Signature Litigation in its London office.

The moves form part of the US firm’s wider push to grow its profile in the London legal market.

US firm Haynes Boone has expanded its London bench with the hire of two partners in fund finance and international arbitration.

Jeremy Cross joins as a fund finance partner from Addleshaw Goddard and advises lenders and funds on financing structures. He spent five years at AG, joining the firm from Cadwalader in 2021.

Philipp Kurek joins as an international arbitration partner from boutique Signature Litigation and previously spent more than a decade at Kirkland. He specialises in investor-state arbitration and cross-border commercial arbitration.

London build

Haynes Boone has been steadily expanding its London presence since entering the market in 2016 through a merger with shipping boutique Curtis Davis Garrard.

The firm has since grown to 60 lawyers with around a quarter focused on shipping, energy and international trade as the firm has sought to broaden its capabilities in finance, private capital and disputes.

The firm recently brought in real estate partner Angus Ford and counsel Martha Williams from Brown Rudnick where Ford was head of UK and European real estate. Last year, meanwhile, Haynes Boone recruited a four-partner corporate team from Memery Crystal before the firm shut down.

Cross’ arrival comes after the firm lost London fund finance partner Jennifer Passagne to Paul Hastings last year.

Haynes Boone moved to a larger City office in December and said in a statement that it was “cementing its long-term commitment to the UK market and fuelling its next phase of strategic growth”.

Founded in Texas in 1970, Haynes Boone is best known in the US for energy, finance and corporate work.
