BCLP and Skadden are advising on the €242 million sale of EasyHotel to private equity real estate firm Tristan Capital.

The group was taken private by its current owners in 2020.

BCLP and Skadden are advising on the sale of budget hotel chain EasyHotel to private equity real estate firm Tristan Capital Partners.

Tristan Capital is acquiring full control of EasyHotel from its current owners, including ICAMAP, Ivanhoé Cambridge and Stelios Haji-Ioannou - the EasyJet founder and owner of the easy family of brands.

The deal values the entire EasyHotel business at €242 million and will see the brand remain in private hands, with EasyGroup continuing to license the name under a royalty agreement.

EasyHotel was previously listed on AIM in 2014 but has been majority owned since 2020 by ICAMAP and Ivanhoé Cambridge who took the company private.

The hotel arm was founded in 2004 by Haji-Ioannou. It currently operates around 50 hotels across the UK and mainland Europe.

Advising

BCLP is advising long-standing client Tristan Capital.

The firm’s cross-practice team is led by London real estate partner Chris de Pury, M&A partners Adam Bogdanor and Tom Bacon, and hotels sector specialist Laura Wild.

The mandate adds to BCLP’s run of work for Tristan, including its £420 million acquisition of Point A Hotels in 2022 - led by the same core partner team.

Skadden is acting for EasyHotel and the chain’s owners, with M&A partners George Knighton and Craig Kelly named as lead advisers, according to MergerLinks.
