Clifford Chance names 28 new partners as US promotions tick up

Clifford Chance has made 28 new partner appointments globally, with nine promoted in London and six in the US.

The round is marginally smaller than last year’s, which saw 31 new partners worldwide and 12 in the City.

The firm’s cohorts have simmered around the 30-partner mark for the last few years, with the exception of 2022's bumper round of 37.

The number of US appointments has seen a notable increase. In both 2024 and 2025, just one US partner was promoted each round, whereas six made the cut this year.

The firm made two appointments in its young Houston office, which opened in 2023.
