Ex-CC lawyer launches 'Cursor for contracts' legal AI platform

Wilson, the UK legal AI startup founded by ex-Clifford Chance lawyer Gus Neate, has publicly launched its self-serve contract work platform.
Dubbed "Cursor for contracts", the tool is aimed at in-house teams and promises to cut up to 80% of time spent on routine contract work.
Wilson, the UK legal AI startup founded by former Clifford Chance lawyer Gus Neate, has publicly launched its self-serve contract work platform.
The company, which calls itself "Cursor for contracts" after the AI-assisted "vibe coding" editor popular with software developers, is aimed at in-house teams. It promises to cut as much as 80% of the time spent on routine contract tasks, from redlining to due diligence, and says it offers "near-perfect Microsoft Word feature parity".

Neate co-founded Wilson last year with Alex Wang, a former quant at hedge fund D.E. Shaw, after meeting through a tech accelerator programme. The company raised $1.7 million in pre-seed funding earlier this year and "has won competitive pilots against well-funded competitors".
The platform offers AI-powered redlining, instant clause extraction, Q&A with verifiable citations and multi-document reviews. Neate said it can complete tasks in five minutes that used to take him five hours as a lawyer.
UK legal tech momentum
Wilson’s launch comes in a busy week for UK legal tech. Litigation startup Wexler, which specialises in tools for large-scale disputes, announced a $5.3 million seed round and unveiled a new product designed to flag inconsistent evidence live during hearings.
What they said
CEO Neate said: "Now is when the time savings really start accelerating as Wilson becomes more agentic. I've been able to have Wilson complete tasks I've spent five hours on as a lawyer in just 5 minutes. We're excited to share that capability with the world and democratize access to legal superpowers. The age of the 10x lawyer is finally here."
CTO Wang added: "Our engineering team has been heads down building the best user experience for lawyers to review and edit contracts. The fidelity and simplicity of our UX is what sets Wilson apart, and it's great to see it beating out legacy tools in competitive evaluations. We built Wilson with a focus on trustable outputs that lawyers can rely on."
