Gibson Dunn has hired leading energy M&A partner Simon Tysoe from Latham & Watkins, bolstering its London energy and infrastructure bench.

The move comes weeks after the US firm lost energy lawyers Anna Howell and Mitasha Chandok to Orrick.

Gibson Dunn has added leading energy M&A partner Simon Tysoe to its London office, in a move that strengthens the US giant’s energy bench just weeks after losing two senior lawyers to Orrick.

Tysoe is one of the UK’s top oil and gas lawyers, ranked Band 1 by Chambers, and joins from Latham. He advises clients on cross-border M&A, joint ventures and project development across the energy value chain, as well as broader infrastructure deals.

A veteran with more than two decades in the sector, Tysoe trained and practised at HSF Kramer, making partner there in 2010 before moving to Latham in 2015.

Energy moves

The move follows the departure of London energy partner Anna Howell (former co-chair of the firm’s global oil and gas group) and counsel Mitasha Chandok to Orrick last month. Like Tysoe, Howell is considered one of the leading names in oil and gas.

What they said

"We are delighted to welcome Simon to Gibson Dunn," said Rob Carr, Gibson Dunn’s London co-managing partner.

"He is a highly respected figure in the global energy M&A space, and his deep industry knowledge makes him an exceptional addition to our team as we further advance our capabilities across the energy and infrastructure markets."
