Harvey will open a Paris office in Q2 and has hired a VP of EMEA sales, extending its European footprint beyond its London EMEA headquarters.

The moves follow a heavy year of fundraising, including a recent $160 million Series F round and €50 million investment from Swedish investment firm EQT.

Legal AI platform Harvey is opening a Paris office and has hired a vice president of EMEA sales, underlining its ambition to scale further across Europe.

The Paris office, due to open in Q2, expands Harvey’s European presence beyond its EMEA headquarters in London, where the company has grown its team to more than 75 employees over the past year and expanded into Spain and Germany.

Jorge Bestard joins as VP of EMEA sales from Canva, where he led the company’s EMEA sales, and will be based in Harvey’s London office, managing a team across Europe.

Deep pockets

Harvey’s latest push into Europe comes on the back of fresh capital: the company raised $160 million last month, following a €50 million from Swedish investment firm EQT in October. The EQT deal was an extension of Harvey’s Series E funding and marked a significant European-led investment supporting its international expansion strategy.

EQT’s backing comes alongside a roster of prominent backers including Sequoia, Kleiner Perkins, the OpenAI Startup Fund and Andreessen Horowitz, which have fuelled Harvey’s rapid growth and $8 billion valuation. Harvey has also added Evantic as a strategic investor in Europe.

France in focus

Harvey is already working with a number of major French law firms and corporates, including Adecco, August Debouzy, Bérénice, Bredin Prat and Vinci Energies.

"Being close to customers matters," said John Haddock, Harvey’s chief business officer. "A local presence in Paris lets us engage more directly with law firms and in-house teams, understand their challenges firsthand, and support them in a way that simply isn’t possible from afar. We are thrilled to combine Jorge’s arrival with the office opening announcement to further reinforce our commitment to and growth in Europe."

Haddock recently joined the Non-Billable podcast to discuss scaling the business and Harvey’s European ambitions. Listen here.
