Norton Rose Fulbright has upped its newly-qualified lawyer salary from £135,000 to £140,000.

The pay jump brings the firm in line with Macfarlanes, Hogan Lovells and Ashurst.

Norton Rose Fulbright has added an extra £5,000 to its newly-qualified salary, with first-year associates in London now set to earn £140,000 a year.

The transatlantic firm, which takes on around 45 to 50 trainees yearly, previously paid NQs £135,000.

Effective from 1 April, the uplift brings NRF in line with competitors Macfarlanes, Hogan Lovells and Ashurst, but remains shy of the Magic Circle’s £150,000 benchmark.

HSF Kramer and Baker McKenzie also still offer more, with both firms paying £145,000 to new lawyers.

Trainee pay is staying the same - qualifying solicitors earn £56,000 and £61,000 in their first and second years respectively.
