Proskauer has hired real estate finance partner Usman Khan from McDermott as it continues to build out its London private capital offering.

The move is part of a broader hiring push in the City, with the firm adding senior talent across its platform in the past year.

Proskauer has continued its steady London expansion with the hire of real estate finance partner Usman Khan from McDermott.

Khan spent nearly three years at McDermott, having joined the firm in 2023 from Kirkland & Ellis, where he was also a partner.

His practice focuses on real assets, advising private equity sponsors, debt funds and institutional investors on both debt and equity structures.

The move adds further depth to Proskauer’s finance offering in London, where the firm has built a strong reputation in private capital, particularly across leveraged finance, funds and secondaries.

Steady build-out

Khan’s arrival is the latest in a run of senior hires as Proskauer continues to scale its London platform.

In February, the firm recruited fund finance partner Mei Mei Wong from DLA Piper, following a string of 11 lateral hires in 2025, a level of activity that outpaced most US rivals in the City. The firm’s London partnership now stands at 63.

Commenting on the hire, global finance co-head Philip Bowden said Khan’s arrival marks an “important step” in the build out of the firm’s finance platform. “His command of both debt and equity structures further enhance our capacity in London to deliver practical, innovative and commercially focused solutions,” Bowden added.
