Shoosmiths has boosted its London office with the hire of private equity partners Tim Nye and Alison Chivers from Trowers & Hamlins.
Nye brings more than 20 years’ experience advising on buyouts, with a focus on sectors including healthcare, real estate and technology. Chivers has a similar profile, advising on transactions across healthcare, pharmaceuticals, technology, business services and consumer.
The hires are the latest in a steady run of lateral additions in London. Shoosmiths has brought in 17 partners over the past year as it looks to scale its corporate practice, one of three core pillars in the firm’s growth strategy.
Shoosmiths has a well-established M&A and private equity practice, particularly in the mid-market. Recent work includes advising Kreston Reeves on its merger with Goldman Sachs-backed accounting group AAB, and acting for Centaur on the sale of The Lawyer to a PE-backed publishing group last year.
What they said
Corporate head Ben Turner said the pair would strengthen the firm’s private equity offering.
“We are delighted to welcome them to our team and I’m confident that their recruitment will elevate what is already an outstanding PE business to even greater heights.”
