Taylor Wessing UK promotes four in slimmer partner round ahead of merger

Taylor Wessing’s UK and Benelux promotions round includes four total partner appointments with two in London ahead of the completion of its transatlantic merger.
The firm’s promotion round last year included 10 new partners, four of which were in the UK.
Taylor Wessing has a pared-back partner round this year, with four new partners across its UK-led and Benelux businesses this year - two in London, one in the Dubai office and one in the Netherlands.
The new London partners are:
- Alison Cole - IP, regulatory and digital
- Shilpa Vaswani - Real estate
It’s a notable downsizing from last year’s global ten-partner round, which saw four promoted to partner in the City.
While partner promotions are down from last year, the firm had a significant uptick in senior counsel appointments, 16 this year versus 10 last year.
Merger incoming
Taylor Wessing’s light partner round comes ahead of the UK-led partnership’s approved merger with US firm Winston & Strawn.
The UK-led businesses will combine with the US firm, separating from the rest of the Taylor Wessing network and adopting the new name Winston Taylor.
The firm’s offices in Ireland, the Middle East, the Netherlands and Belgium are all included in the merger, and the rest will continue to be part of the verein.
