Proskauer has hired corporate tax partner Adam Blakemore, who spent more than 20 years at Cadwalader before transitioning to Hogan Lovells Cadwalader.

The move adds to several post-merger departures, including restructuring partner Bevis Metcalfe to Paul Hastings and an 11-lawyer fund finance team to Sidley in New York.

Hogan Lovells Cadwalader corporate tax partner Adam Blakemore has joined Proskauer in London.

Blakemore spent more than 20 years at Cadwalader before moving over to Hogan Lovells Cadwalader when the firms completed their merger in July.

He has specialist experience across CLOs, special situations and fund finance and his move adds another senior hire to Proskauer's roughly 64-partner London office, which has been steadily adding talent over the past year.

The US firm hired real estate finance partner Usman Khan from McDermott in April and fund finance partner Mei Mei Wong from DLA Piper in February.

Those moves followed 11 lateral partner hires in London during 2025, putting Proskauer among the more active US firms recruiting in the City.

Blakemore's practice also fits closely with some of the areas where Proskauer has been investing, including fund finance and private capital.

“Adam is an exceptional tax lawyer and an outstanding addition to our London tax practice,” said Proskauer chair Tim Mungovan. “We are very pleased to welcome him to the partnership.”

Post-merger departures

Blakemore's exit is the latest involving a former Cadwalader partner since its combination with Hogan Lovells completed over the summer.

Senior restructuring partner Bevis Metcalfe joined Paul Hastings in London, while Sidley Austin hired an 11-lawyer fund finance team from Hogan Lovells Cadwalader in New York.

Former M&A head Bill Curtin also left for Davis Polk in Washington DC shortly before the merger went live.
